I couldn’t pass up this new five book series by the queen of filthy romance, JA Huss. I’ve read the first three so far (Mr. Perfect, Mr. Romantic, Mr. Corporate), and the other two (Mr. Mysterious and Mr. Match) are near the top of my TBR list!

Blurb for book 1 – Mr. Perfect

Wanting the perfect man doesn't make me crazy. I just know what I like. A powerful billionaire in a suit wasn't even my first choice. McAllister Stonewall was never on my radar, I didn't even know he existed.
I do now.
His hands are all over me at work. The heat of his chest pressing against my bare back as he bends me over the desk is the only thing on my mind.
He is my most forbidden desires unleashed. He is my new secret obsession. He is my Mr. Perfect.
Until the moment I realize… There's no such thing as perfect.

What I thought:

The feel of these books changes markedly through the series, something I enjoy a lot, and I love JA Huss’s writing style.

Mr. Perfect starts off as almost a romantic comedy. Ellie’s job is to babysit celebrities appearing on the TV station she work at, and she spends her time dealing with their quirks while fantasising over her boss. She’s a little delusional, and even sends messages detailing their life together, never dreaming they’re actually going to her new boss, Macallister Stonewall.

He steamrollers into her life and much dirtiness ensues, intertwined with a larger plot concerning Mac’s past and the other four Misters.

I loved this book, which is a lot more lighthearted than other books I’ve read by the same author. It still has the expected amount of filth, and I’ll certainly never look at butter in the same way again! I love the character development, and even though Mac could be a bit of a prick at times, I liked both leading characters. And the overarching mystery definitely piqued my interest.

Mr. Romantic may sound sweet from the title, but it’s anything back. Definitely one of the more controversial romances I’ve read, it’s got a totally different feel to the first book in the series. Ivy meets Nolan when he interviews her for a job at his luxury resort, a job she doesn’t even recall applying for. Despite interference from his sister, Nolan can’t stay away from Ivy, and she feels the same way even when she finds out about the secrets in his past.

One of the themes in this book is a rape fantasy, and although it doesn’t cross the line to glamourising the act, some readers might find it disturbing. A dark romance, which I loved, but I wouldn’t recommend to those of a sensitive disposition.

Mr. Corporate follows rival headhunters Weston and Victoria as they vie to win a big recruitment contract. Things don’t go as smoothly as either of them hope, though, when they end up marooned on an island together.

This book is full of twists, and although one of the plots is cleared up by the end of the book, it also deepens the plot into the mystery that runs through the whole series and leaves you wondering what secrets Weston has left.

I’ll admit I didn’t like either character much for the first few chapters—West came across as arrogant while Tori acted like a brat. But they grew on me, and the circumstances they found themselves in gave them a second chance at a romance they gave up on some years previously. I ended up liking both of them, which for me is a sign of a well-written book—that characters grow and change throughout the story.

This is shaping up to be one of my favourite series, but be warned it can be very dark and contains graphic sex scenes plus very strong language.

I’ll update when I’ve read the final two books…
